Ross Hamilton: Dressed for Success Pride Month Lecture with Mieke van Vulpen

Thursday, June 11, 2026, 7:00 PM to 8:00 PM

Step into the remarkable story of Ross Hamilton, a Cumberland County native whose life bridged wartime service and theatrical fame. From his enlistment in the First World War and work as an ambulance driver to his celebrated performances in concert parties — most notably as “Marjorie”— Hamilton rose to post-war celebrity before serving again during the Second World War.

This lecture by Mieke van Vulpen explores Hamilton's complex journey, including his military expulsion and enduring legacy, bringing to light a fascinating and lesser-known chapter of local and national history.

Admission by donation or free to CHS members.
